Cheryl L2023-11-14I highly recommend the Green Tree Company! Their workmanship was spot on! They were very professional, polite/kind. They are ISA certified arborist. Give them a call if you are looking for someone that knows trees!S Albers2023-11-10James Green and his brothers just finished trimming our much-loved oak trees and I have nothing but praise for them and their work. James is a man of his word: he shows up when he says he will, and does great work for a fair price. In addition, he is very knowledgeable about Texas trees (and snakes too!) and is careful in their trimming. I highly recommend James Green and Green Tree Company.Deanna Knauer2023-10-31Huge selection. Great prices. Easy to reach if you have questions.Cleta Ernst2023-09-13Green Tree Co was recommended to us by our nephew who had glowing reviews of his experience with them. James Green came out and assessed all the oak trees, 5-6 in all, 3 of which are probably >150yrs old. He and his crew are knowledgeable about both the health and asthetics of the trees. They were all super professional and friendly. He gave us an estimate and stuck to it. Lastly, the clean up was impeccable. you’d never know any work was done. We’ve had trees lifted in the past and I can say he is very reasonable. We will be calling on him again when the time comes. 5+⭐️Evan Milliron2023-06-14James is honest and dependable. He and his team removed 12 trees near my house in just a couple days. When they were done they cleaned up the place better than they found it.K. M-Koz2023-06-02Our family has benefited greatly from the expertise & professionalism of James Green & the all the other Green Tree Company employees for many years. Their honesty, integrity, graciousness really make them an absolute pleasure to work with! They thoughtfully consider each tree cutting job and also give great advice on care for trees they sell and that we already have established. They also give great suggestions for trimming. James has a real eye for native Texas trees and has helped me as I continue to build my own foraging skills. We have worked with Green Tree Company for many years and recommend them completely. Some words to describe the company are: Excellence, honesty, trustworthy, punctual, wonderful communication. They are the best of the best!!Deidra Wynne2023-02-18Like so many, I was incredulous and absolutely crestfallen by the sheer volume of massive Live Oak (and my sweet Cedar Elm) limbs having collapsed under unbearable weight of ice in first nights of February 2023. I wouldn’t let my dogs out back for fear of giant dangling limbs. My neighbors found James Green, were thrilled with his (and supporting cast’s) work, and provided me their confidence and his contact info. James assured me he’d get to my work soon, and was true to his word with timely text communication days out, and hours leading up to, the time he had earmarked for me. I’m one to stand out there and watch ya’ll, and I can tell you James moved deftly and professionally up high in these trees with AWE-inspiring series of footholds and lunges, like he was one with them. He is a natural climber, and the safety harness system is an extension of him. I’ve hired crews that did not use harnesses before; not a great feeling. James demonstrates absolute mastery of physics and, while I did not expect to enjoy any aspect of this horrific storm ordeal, watching him climb then take important moments up there to evaluate/problem solve how best to safely and gently cut away and lower enormous entangled crown sections to earth, first securing them with rope, was actually an art form. I had Buick-sized sections wedged, suspended at side yard and had NO clue how they could be removed without hitting roof edge, window, or fence below. No challenge too great for Green Tree! I notice things like the manner with which proprietors speak to persons working for them, and it’s obvious his guys are treated well, respect James, and are comfortable to approach/seek a moment of consultation from him, when necessary, to get things accomplished safely and to his high professional standards. I appreciated the chipper they brought, because we’ve all simply had enough of waiting weeks for the city. MOST importantly, when you choose an accredited arborist that is James Green, you have someone who EXPERTLY, genuinely cares for the long-term viability of these treasured resources. I’m so relieved! Thanks, James & guys!Ric Snook2023-01-01We were wanting to add more trees to our property and move some recently planted ones - James to the rescue! He came out and walked the property with us, listening to what we wanted for a end result. He provided a quote that was quite reasonable and was able to start within a week. The trees look fabulous (that is until the neighborhood cow herd got to a few of the smaller ones) James is very knowledgeable, punctual and helped us immensely with his great advice. We will definitely consider him first for future projects.John Brainard2022-12-10We recently had the opportunity to work with James and his crew on an installation of 50 trees. They were a pleasure to work with! Accommodating, professional, knowledgeable and right on schedule. The trees they planted were high quality and their work was well done. Big thanks to James and his crew. It makes a such a difference in our world to be able to work in easy rhythm with another contractor onsite. We look forward to the next rodeo!Corinne Wier2022-05-02James and his crew are great, I highly recommend them! James is very friendly and knowledgeable, and continues to help me figure out the plants on my property and what to do about them. If you need anything tree related, hire this company!

Can you remove a tree close to my house without damaging the property?
Removing a tree close to your house is a complex task that requires meticulous planning and expert execution to ensure that no damage occurs to your property. The first and foremost aspect of such a removal process is a thorough assessment of the tree’s condition and its surroundings. This involves evaluating the tree’s size, species, health, and its proximity to your house and other structures. An experienced arborist would also take into account factors like the angle of growth, the distribution of branches, and the condition of the root system. The root system is particularly crucial as it could have extended beneath your house, potentially affecting the foundation during the removal process. Moreover, the tree’s health plays a significant role; a diseased or dead tree might be unstable, posing additional risks during removal.
The actual process of removing a tree close to your house is a strategic endeavor that typically involves the use of specialized equipment and techniques. One common method is sectional dismantling, where the tree is carefully cut into sections and lowered to the ground using ropes or cranes. This method is especially useful in confined spaces where dropping entire branches or the trunk is not feasible. Precision is key in this process; each cut and movement must be calculated to ensure that no part of the tree falls uncontrollably or comes into contact with your house. For taller trees, aerial platforms or cranes might be employed to provide the arborists with better access and control. In some cases, rigging systems are used to guide the descent of cut sections away from the property safely.
Safety measures are paramount in such operations, not just for the property, but also for the workers and any bystanders. Professional tree removal services invest in training their staff in advanced rigging and cutting techniques and equip them with personal protective equipment. Before the operation begins, a clear work area is established, and potential hazards are identified and mitigated. This might involve temporarily removing objects around the tree, such as outdoor furniture or decorations, to create a buffer zone. Additionally, state-of-the-art tools like chainsaws, hand saws, and wood chippers are maintained in top condition to ensure efficient and safe removal. The goal is to control the entire process, from the initial incision in the trunk to the final disposal of the tree parts.
Finally, once the tree is successfully removed, the focus shifts to cleanup and site restoration. This involves removing all debris, including branches, leaves, and wood sections, and ensuring that your property is left in a clean and safe condition. Stump removal is another aspect of the process; it can be ground down to below ground level to avoid being a tripping hazard or left as is, depending on your preference. Additionally, the soil may be disturbed during the removal process, especially if large equipment was used. In such cases, remediation efforts such as regrading or replanting grass may be necessary to restore the landscape. Throughout the entire process, the aim is to ensure that your property remains undamaged and aesthetically pleasing, reflecting the careful and professional approach of the tree removal service.
How can I prevent my trees from becoming a hazard?
Preventing trees from becoming hazards is an essential aspect of property maintenance and environmental stewardship. The first step in this process is regular and thorough tree inspections. Such inspections should ideally be carried out by a professional arborist and involve a comprehensive examination of the tree’s overall health, structural integrity, and potential vulnerabilities. This includes assessing for signs of disease or pest infestation, which can weaken a tree and make it more susceptible to falling or losing limbs. Additionally, the arborist will look for structural issues such as cracks, weak branch unions, or decay, particularly in older trees. These inspections should be done at least annually and more frequently in areas prone to severe weather conditions or for species known to have specific vulnerabilities. It’s also crucial to monitor trees after extreme weather events like storms, high winds, or heavy snowfall, as these conditions can cause immediate damage or create weaknesses that might lead to problems in the future.
Proper tree care and maintenance are vital in preventing trees from becoming hazards. This involves regular pruning to remove dead or weak limbs, which can fall and cause damage or injury. Pruning also helps in maintaining the tree’s structural integrity and promotes healthy growth. When done correctly, it can reduce the weight of potentially hazardous branches, improve the tree’s balance, and minimize the risk of branches breaking off. However, pruning should be done judiciously and with an understanding of how different tree species respond to cuts, as over-pruning can be detrimental. In addition to pruning, proper tree care includes adequate watering, especially during dry periods, and fertilization to ensure the trees have the nutrients they need to grow strong and healthy. Mulching around the base of the tree can help retain moisture and regulate soil temperature, further contributing to the tree’s health.
The environment in which the tree grows plays a significant role in its health and stability. Ensuring that the tree is planted in a suitable location is key to preventing it from becoming a hazard. For example, trees that grow too close to buildings, power lines, or other structures can become dangerous as they mature. It’s important to choose the right tree species for the specific location, considering factors like the tree’s mature size, root system, and tolerance to local soil and climate conditions. Additionally, protecting trees from environmental stressors such as soil compaction, pollution, or physical damage from lawn equipment can help maintain their health and structural integrity. Trees growing in healthy, stress-free environments are less likely to develop problems that could turn them into hazards.
Finally, a proactive approach to tree hazard prevention involves planning for potential risks. This can include strategies such as planting wind-resistant tree species in areas prone to high winds or ensuring proper drainage to prevent waterlogging in areas with heavy rainfall. In urban settings, integrating trees into the landscape design in a way that minimizes future conflicts with infrastructure is important. Regular communication with a professional arborist can provide valuable insights into emerging issues and evolving best practices in tree care. Such a partnership can help you stay ahead of potential problems and make informed decisions about tree maintenance, removal, or replacement. By adopting a proactive, informed approach to tree care, you can significantly reduce the likelihood of your trees becoming hazards, ensuring they remain a safe and beautiful part of your landscape.
